Artist Statement
January 2006
These imagined abstract environments are based on emotional, rather
than physical, spaces. The surfaces are developed intuitively using
knives, brushes, fingers, and cloth to form dense, intersecting layers.
I make use of the way memory recycles and distorts experience, to
create something new and emotionally charged. The process reveals
clues about the deep, usually hidden nature of meaning/feeling/being
in the world, bringing to light possibilities for transformation.
